What we collect, and why

Gift vouchers

When you buy a gift voucher we collect your name and email address, the name and email address of the person you are sending it to, any personal message you write, and the amount. We need this to create the voucher, email it to the person receiving it, and send you a receipt. We do this because it is necessary to carry out the purchase you asked us to make.

Card payments

Card payments are handled by Dojo on their own secure payment page. Your card details never reach this website, and we never see or store them. We keep a record of the order itself: a reference, the amount, whether it was paid, and Dojo's own payment reference.

Enquiries

If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, a phone number if you choose to give one, and your message, so that we can reply to you. These messages are sent to our inbox by email and are not stored on the website. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch with us.

Table bookings

Table bookings are handled by ResDiary through the booking form on our Bookings page. The details you enter there go directly to ResDiary and are covered by their own privacy policy.

Records from our previous website

Customer, order and gift voucher records from our previous website were carried across to this one, so that gift vouchers bought before the change still work exactly as they did.

Technical information

Our web server keeps standard logs, which include IP addresses, for security and for fixing problems. When a member of our staff signs in to manage the website, we record what they did, when, and from which IP address, in an internal log.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the website, so that we can improve it. It tells us things like which pages are popular and which links people click. It does not tell us who you are.

Analytics only runs if you agree to it. When you first visit, we ask you. Until you choose Allow, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is measured. If you choose No thanks, nothing is measured at all. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use your visit to target ads at you.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Turning it off is exactly as easy as turning it on.

The only other cookies we use are the ones that keep our own staff signed in when they are managing the website. Those are essential and are not used to track anyone.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of companies to run the website. They handle information on our behalf and only on our instructions.

• Dojo processes card payments.
• Elastic Email delivers our emails: voucher emails, receipts and contact form enquiries.
• ResDiary handles table bookings.
• Cloudways hosts the website.
• Google Analytics measures how the site is used, but only if you have agreed to it.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing.

How long we keep it

A gift voucher bought from us is valid for five years, so we keep the record of it for at least that long, and then for a further six years because we are required to keep financial records for Revenue. Messages sent through the contact form live in our email inbox rather than on the website, and we delete them once they are no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format.

Some of these rights have limits. For example, we cannot delete the record of a gift voucher that is still valid and could still be spent with us, and we have to keep financial records for Revenue.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date shown at the top of this page.
